About Colleen
My approach to nutrition and healthy eating can be explained with one, short word - REAL.
I strive to provide evidence based health information along with real and honest answers to questions.
I'm Colleen (she/her) and completed both a Bachelor of Arts and Science (BASc) and Masters of Health Science (MHSc) in Nutrition Communications at Toronto Metropolitan (formerly Ryerson) University in Toronto, Ontario.
I completed a dietetic internship in a hospital setting where I launched my career as a Registered Dietitian, staying on as clinical staff. I gained clinical experience in the hospital setting working with patients living with cancer, undergoing surgery, struggling with gastrointestinal disorders and/or facing other acute health issues. It's here I realized there was a huge gap for patients when they go home after being in hospital. On their road to recovery with many answered questions about what they can eat.
I then moved on from my clinical experience to an opportunity to gain and share my more in depth food knowledge and appreciation while working as a retail dietitian. This allowed me to combine the clinical world of nutrition with real world application outside of the hospital walls.
In 2024 my private practice celebrates it's 10th birthday! Ten years of supporting clients with digestive health issues. Whether fresh out of hospital with a new diagnosis or after years of struggling on their own - I'm there for my clients and support them as they navigate their real world.
I consider myself lucky to divide my time between working in my private practice, part time lecturing at TMU and working a couple days a week at hospital in Toronto. My hospital role is a unique and dynamic leadership role that keeps me connected to clinical. I love the variety in my career and believe the diversity in my work makes me a well balanced dietitian and gut health coach.
